Door Styles, Construction and Finishes
The gallery above shows the door styles we supply. Beyond colour, three choices shape how a kitchen looks and lasts: the door style, the box construction, and the finish.
Door styles
- Shaker. A recessed flat panel inside a square frame. The most widely specified style, and the easiest to pair with both traditional and contemporary rooms.
- Slim shaker. The same construction with a narrower rail, which reads more modern and gives a slightly larger panel.
- Inset. The door sits flush within the face frame rather than over it. It is the most demanding to build and align, and it gives the most furniture-like result.
- Reeded and textured fronts. Vertical fluting adds depth to islands and tall runs without introducing another colour.
- Flat / slab. A single uninterrupted face for minimal, handleless kitchens.
Finishes
Painted finishes give an even, repeatable colour and suit classic and transitional kitchens. Stained and natural oak finishes let the grain read through and are the usual choice when the cabinetry is meant to warm up a room with stone or porcelain surfaces.
Matching Cabinets to Your Countertop
Cabinets and countertops are chosen together, in the same light, or the result rarely matches the plan. A few pairings we are asked for repeatedly:
- White or off-white shaker + white quartz with soft grey veining. The safest high-resale combination; keep the veining subtle if the run is long.
- Deep green or navy shaker + warm gold-veined quartz. Adds contrast without the maintenance of dark natural stone.
- Natural oak or reeded fronts + porcelain. Works well for outdoor and indoor-outdoor kitchens where UV stability matters.
- Charcoal or black cabinetry + light slab backsplash. A full-height slab splash keeps a dark kitchen from closing in.

Cabinet FAQs
Do cabinets go in before countertops?
Yes. Countertops are templated only after the cabinets are installed, level and secured, because the template captures the real cabinet positions rather than the drawing.
What is the difference between inset and overlay doors?
Overlay doors sit on top of the face frame; inset doors sit flush inside it. Inset requires tighter tolerances and a more precise installation.
Can I mix two cabinet colours in one kitchen?
It is a common approach — typically a darker island with lighter perimeter runs. Choose the countertop after both colours are fixed so the stone bridges them.
Do you handle both the cabinets and the countertops?
Yes. Keeping both with one team means the templating team already knows the cabinet specification, overhangs and appliance clearances.
