WHY QUARTZ

Why Atlanta Kitchens Keep Choosing Quartz

Engineered quartz is the most specified countertop material in metro Atlanta remodels, and the reason is practical rather than fashionable: it is non-porous. It never needs sealing, it does not absorb wine, coffee or cooking oil, and the pattern you approve on the slab is the pattern you get across the whole kitchen.

That consistency matters when a kitchen has a long island plus a perimeter run. Natural stone moves from slab to slab; engineered quartz repeats, so an island and a back wall read as one surface. For open-plan Atlanta kitchens that sit in view of the living space, that is usually the deciding factor.

What quartz is not good at

We would rather tell you this before templating than after installation. Quartz contains polymer resin, and resin reacts to direct heat — a pan straight off the burner can leave a mark. Use trivets. Some quartz colours are also not rated for outdoor use because UV exposure can shift the pigment; for an outdoor kitchen we will point you at porcelain or granite instead.

OUR STOCK

Jumbo Slabs, Book Matching and Thickness

Our Norcross yard stocks quartz in jumbo formats — commonly 127″ × 64″ and 138″ × 79″. A larger slab means fewer seams on a long run, and on many colours it means an island can be cut from a single piece.

Several colours in the collection are book-matched, so two adjacent slabs mirror each other. That is what makes a waterfall island look continuous around the corner instead of cut off. Thickness is typically 2 cm or 3 cm depending on the colour; a mitred edge can make a 3 cm slab read as 6 cm or thicker on the island.

The full colour range with the spec card for each slab is on the countertops page.

PROCESS

How a Quartz Countertop Project Runs in Atlanta

We template after your cabinets are installed and level, not from a drawing. Digital templating captures the real wall irregularities, the appliance clearances and the overhang you actually want to sit at. Before we cut, we show you where the seams will fall and how the veining will line up.

Fabrication — cutting, edge profiling, sink and faucet cut-outs, polishing — happens in our own shop on Graves Road. Installation is by the same team. Nothing is subcontracted out to a shop you never meet, which is what usually causes the “that’s not who templated it” problem.

We serve the whole metro area from Norcross: Buckhead, Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Decatur, Chamblee, Doraville, Tucker, Duluth, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell, Marietta, Smyrna and Peachtree Corners.

QUESTIONS

Quartz Countertop FAQs

Does quartz need to be sealed?

No. It is non-porous, so sealing is unnecessary at installation and unnecessary later.

How do I clean it?

Warm water and a mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive powders and anything strongly alkaline or acidic, including oven cleaner and undiluted bleach.

Can quartz be used in a bathroom?

Yes, and it is a good choice there — no sealing, and it handles cosmetics and toiletries without staining.

Will there be a visible seam on my island?

On many jumbo slabs an island can be cut in one piece. If a seam is unavoidable we position it where it is least visible and show you the layout before cutting.

Why Atlanta Homeowners Choose Quartz

Quartz is engineered from natural quartz minerals and resin, which gives it two advantages granite cannot match: consistent patterning across the whole slab and a non-porous surface that never needs sealing. That consistency matters for large islands and full-slab backsplashes, where pattern continuity is visible at a glance.
